At Lakewood, Good Health Gets Better with Age!

Don Meissner, Lakewood’s Fitness Instructor, has been guiding and teaching the residents of Lakewood for fifteen years in the incredible benefits of functional strength to enhance mental and physical well-being.   Residents benefit from exercise as it increases bone density, improves memory and overall strength and balance.

According to Nancy Elliott, “Don’s Strength Training Class is a wonderful class to take thanks to Don.  This class tones and builds muscles as well as working on balance. Don is very calm and easy going which puts me at ease.  He knows everyone’s name in the class which is amazing.  This class also gives me the exercise I need and keeps my energy level up so that I don’t get lazy.  It is also an opportunity to be with other residents if they join the class.  I am very glad I have the opportunity to take this class at Lakewood Manor.”
Starting in March 2015, Don will be leading a new “Fitness Room101” class on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:25 a.m. informing and updating residents about Lakewood’s exercise equipment and how to maximize the benefits of the equipment.
In addition to taking advantage of the Fitness Center (available all day every day for the convenience of residents’ personal schedules), many residents join in the variety of classes offered as a part of our wellness program.  These classes are led by Don as well as instructors from the YMCA.
