Barrett Way began serving as Executive Director of Lakewood in April 2017.
Prior to joining Lakewood, Way was the executive director of Westminster Village in Terre Haute, Indiana, managed by Life Care Services. During his tenure with Life Care Services, Way led a $2 million villa expansion project, oversaw the refinancing of $8.9 million in debt and helped the community achieve more than 400 days in “no lost work.” His efforts led to an overall increase in resident satisfaction to 92 percent, with 96 percent of residents recommending the community to family and friends.
Way, who grew up in Richmond’s west end, volunteered at Lakewood as a boy and looks forward to returning to his childhood neighborhood. Way holds a master’s in business administration from the University of Massachusetts’ Isenberg School of Management and a bachelor’s in business administration from Ohio University. He and his wife have two daughters.
Administrator of Health Services
A native of Pennsylvania, Felicity Wood assumed the position of Administrator of Health Services in March 2006. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. In her role, Felicity is responsible for the daily operations of the delivery of care and wellness services to our residents in all levels of care.
Felicity holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and English from St. Vincent College in Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Gerontology with a specialization in Health Care Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Felicity has previously served in Assistant Administrator and Administrator roles for a nursing facility company with holdings in Virginia and North Carolina as well as serving as the Director of Resident Services and Assistant Administrator at a not-for-profit faith-based community in Richmond.
Felicity and her husband are the proud parents of three children.
Donna Buhrman is a native of Richmond, Virginia, attending public schools and receiving a BS from VCU in Psychology. She is married to Bob Buhrman, whose parents happily resided at Lakewood Manor in Building A many years ago. They have two children, Rob and Leslie. She has spent most of her professional career working in various marketing positions and has more than 17 years working in the senior industry. She is a past president of Richmond Senior Network and serves on the advisory board.
Director of Dining and Environmental Services
Steven Brewer joined the staff at Lakewood in July 2012 as the Director of Dining Services. Later, in 2013, he was appointed to Director of Environmental Services in addition to his dining service position. Preceding his employment with Lakewood, Steven worked as a Dining Services Director at Envoy of Westover Hills for several years. Later he was appointed the position of District Manager of Dining Services for Healthcare Services group. His district included five long-term care facilities in Central and Northern Virginia.
Steven has an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts and later pursued his Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Steven also has a combined 20 years of experience as an Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director in the hotel industry. He is also a Certified Dietary Manager and a ServSafe Food Safety Instructor.
Director of Human Resources
Beth M. Farris
A native of Ohio, Beth M. Farris assumed the position of Director of Human Resources in October 2015. In her role, she oversees all areas of recruitment, retention, and development of Lakewood’s wonderful and hard-working employees. After moving to the area in 2007, Beth held HR management positions, most recently with Consulate Health Care and HCR.
Director of Resident Services
Eileen Kwak has been with Lakewood since 1996. She joined us after receiving her Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Science in Biology from the University of South Florida, Tampa. Prior to coming to Lakewood, Eileen was employed as the Day Program Coordinator for Children and Adults at UCP Cape Coral, Florida.
Eileen currently serves as the Director of Resident Services and is responsible for the daily departmental operations and oversight of the Independent living level of care, including the coordination of in-house programs and events, concierge services, security, and transportation for the facility.
Eileen's free time is typically spent outdoors hiking, kayaking, canoeing or spending time exercising her dogs.
Louise Mason is a Richmond native and the mother of two adult children, Will and Forrest. She and her husband, Peter, have lived in Pennsylvania and Minnesota where they met. Louise is an alumnae of the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, where she received her M.Div and M.S. in Patient Counseling through their dual degree program. She is a Board Certified Chaplain and has a background in substance abuse counseling and family therapy. She enjoys teaching yoga, reading, and being outdoors.
Julie Gaines Walton
Julie Gaines Walton, a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, began serving as Chaplain in June 2015. She holds bachelors’ degrees in Music Education and Liberal Studies from Longwood University and earned her Masters of Divinity degree from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Prior to coming to Lakewood, she served as a Chaplain Intern at Westminster Canterbury Richmond and Ministry Intern at both Tabernacle Baptist Church in Richmond and Farmville Baptist Church in Farmville, Virginia. Julie is passionate about working to create a welcoming, caring, comfortable community and cultivating a spirit of joy and hope in the life of residents, staff members, and their families.
When she’s not at Lakewood, Julie can be found running the streets of Richmond training for her next race, playing flute in the Richmond Pops Band, and spending time with her husband, Jeff.
