Closing Ceremony Concludes Lakewood’s Summer Games
The members of Team Dominican Republic are the proud recipients of the gold medal in Lakewood’s inaugural Summer Games. The team will celebrate with a special party later this summer.
In second place, Team England took home the silver medal and Team Brazil came in third to take the bronze medal podium. Participants raised $3,564 in donations for the Special Olympics.
Here’s a look at some highlights from the weeklong competition and fellowship:
The week featured competition in table games like ping pong, Jenga and table ball. Participants took to the pool for swimming contests, water volleyball and water polo and went head to head in shuffleboard, basketball, wiffleball, ballroom dancing and trivia. Group events like the marathon, cycling and duck race had residents vying for the top spot. The competition was fierce and fun was had by all.
