Lakewood Executive Director Barrett Way has resigned from his position. Barrett will be returning to work for Life Care Services, the largest provider of management services to non-profit life plan communities in the country. Barrett will take the helm as the executive director of one of the premier life plan communities serving the Midwest. Barrett made this decision because of the opportunities available in such a large organization. The Lakewood and LifeSpire of Virginia leadership teams wish him the best in his new role.

Since joining Lakewood’s team in 2017, Barrett has been an invaluable member of the extended LifeSpire of Virginia family. Barrett worked tirelessly during the recently completed expansion of Lakewood. He and his team worked diligently preparing the campus for the opening of the expanded facilities and, more recently, the grand opening of the newly renovated Main Street. Barrett’s contribution has been essential to Lakewood’s success, which is very much appreciated by all. Barrett’s last day will be Friday, October 23.

The LifeSpire of Virginia leadership team will be engaging the services of a highly experienced individual to serve as the interim executive director while the search for a permanent replacement is conducted. LifeSpire of Virginia’s Chief Operating Officer Ray Fisher will be working with Lakewood’s leadership team and Resident Council to assist during this transition.

Barrett’s fellow team members will surely remember his courtesy, work ethic and an optimistic attitude. A farewell will be held on the Lakewood terrace on October 21, at 3:30 p.m.
